Tablet Formulation Studies on Recrystallized Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients of Valsartan and Olmesartan Medoxomil

Both the Valsartan (VAL) and Olmesartan medoxomil (OLM) are widely prescribed anti-hypertensive agents with angiotensin II type I receptor antagonistic activity. VAL OLM of BCS class drugs having a low variable oral bioavailability. Recrystallization from different organic solvents improved its aqueous solubility thereby in vitro dissolution properties. In present investigation, tablets containing (VAL), (OLM and) recrystallized products were prepared by direct compression method evaluated for drug content, uniformity weight, hardness, friability, disintegration time All fulfilled compendial requirements regarding to weight variation, friability etc immediate release tablets. The DP15 (drug percent dissolved at 15 min) values V-1 (tablets VAL), V-4 methanol product crospovidone as disintegrant) DIOVAN™ 40mg tablet formulations 45.97, 98.95 82.65 respectively formulation showed higher rate when compared other formulations. O-1(tablets OLM), O-4 acetonitrile disintegrant OLMY™ (20mg) 29.25, 99.93 84.82 respectively. formulations.
